Bas Verheijen is an accomplished executive and top marketer with a proven track record of building profitable businesses, from large corporates to launching Picnic from the ground up.

Named CMO of the Year 2026, he is widely recognised as one of the Netherlands' most prominent (retail) marketers. He combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership and deep expertise in brand positioning and digital marketing. With over 30 years of experience and more than 20 consecutive years in the Dutch BVA Top 100 Marketers, Bas also serves on the advisory board of CMOtalk.

Criteria for a CMO Next Membership

You hold a senior marketing role within a large company, an important division, or a fast-growing scale-up
You have an active role as Head of Marketing or an equivalent position and report to a Chief Officer (Marketing, Commerce, or Growth)
You are responsible for a significant marketing budget
Your organization is not primarily focused on selling products or services to marketers, and you are willing to actively contribute to our community
You are a senior marketer in roles such as Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing Lead, or Head of Marketing
You agree to the CMOtalk code of conduct
